On Wednesday 11 November 2020, the State Audit Bureau of Kuwait (SAB), represented by SAB
President Mr. Faisal Al-Shaya, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Kuwait Anti-
corruption Authority “Nazaha”, represented by Authority President Mr. Abdulaziz Al-Ibrahim,
regarding aspects of cooperation between the two institutions. This event marks a new step in
terms of professional relations between Kuwaiti audit institutions.
This agreement represents a culmination of hard work and efforts between the two institutions
during the last period. It expresses mutual cooperation that achieves public interest in fighting
corruption and preserving public funds.
In addition, this MoU aims to strengthen national commitment towards fighting corruption and
confirming audit institutions› preparedness to fulfill the directions of His Highness the Emir, Sheikh
Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, in this field.
The signing of the MoU was attended by SAB Vice President, Mr. Adel Al-Sarawi; SAB
Undersecretary, Mr. Abdulaziz Al-Holi; and the SAB President’s Consultant, Mr. Ismail Al-Ghanim.
This event was also attended by SAB’s Assistant Undersecretary of Legal Affairs, Financial
Breaches, and Performance Audit Sector, Mr. Yousef Al-Mazrooei; Assistant Undersecretary
of Ministries and Government Departments Audit Sector, Mr. Essam Al-Romi; Assistant
Undersecretary of Pre- Audit and Technical Support Audit Sector, Mr. Khalid Al-Abdulgafor;
Assistant Undersecretary of Supplementary Bodies and Companies Audit Sector, Mr. Yousef
Al-fouzan; and the Assistant Undersecretary of Independent Bodies Audit Sector, Mr. Sami Al-
Dowayhees.
In addition, the Acting Secretary-General, Dr. Mohammed Bozubar, and the Director of the
President Office, Mr. Khalid Al-Rumaihi attended the signing representing “Nazaha”.
It is worthy to note that the SAB and “Nazaha” have bilateral cooperation in the field of training
for their employees as well as the other fields. In fact, SAB has forwarded 36 complaints and
topics to Nazaha, and Nazaha has forwarded 17 cases to SAB. This highlights the importance of
signing a memorandum of understanding in order to achieve common goals and public interest
for both parties.
