Combating Corruption
A Common Global Commitment
Report
This was introduced within the framework of the
provisions of the resolution as follows:
Preventive Measures:
ARTICLE 5.
We emphasize the role of SAIs in
fighting corruption through the reinforcement
of integrity, accountability, transparency,
proper management of public affairs and
properties as well as the efficient utilization
of public resources. In accordance with the
basic principles of national laws, we shall
maintain the independence of Supreme Audit
Institutions and other supervisory bodies to
provide an efficient facilitation of their tasks. We
shall implement policies to enable the efficient
execution of the duties of such institutions in
accordance with the relevant regulations that
include the INTOSAI principles and standards
of proper management of public assets,
properties, and procurement. Moreover, we
shall take into consideration the findings and
recommendations stated in the reports of
The landmark Political Declaration, (document
A/S-32/L.1), was adopted by consensus at the
outset of the 193-member Assembly’s thirty-
second special session, which was held from
2- 4 June 2021.
The resolution of the General Assembly of the
United Nations assigned essential roles to the
supreme audit institutions within the framework
of their professional responsibilities and
obligations in accordance with the principles
and standards of the International Organization
of Supreme Audit Institutions.
The Anti-Corruption Political
Declaration demonstrates the role
of SAIs as effective partners in the
fight against corruption.
The United Nations Convention
against Corruption is the only
legally binding universal anti-
corruption instrument.
