With a Delegation Chaired by its President Faisal Al-Shaya,
SAB Participates in the 17th Meeting of GCC
SAIs Presidents
A high-level delegation from the State Audit
Bureau of Kuwait (SAB), chaired by its
President Faisal Al-Shaya, participated in the
17th Meeting of their Excellencies the Heads of
GCC SAIs on Tuesday, 20th of October 2020.
In addition to the President, the participating
team of SAB was represented by Dr. Saud
Al-Zamanan, the Director of the Training
and International Relations Department, the
Department’s Controller Ms. Heba Al-Awadi,
and the Acting Head of the International
Relations Section, Ms. Nadia Al-Enezi.
During a discussion in the meeting, the SAB
President stated that Kuwait strives to enhance
the notion of “combating corruption” through
adopting the UN Convention that calls for
recognizing the perceptions of corruption
and elevating performances within the public
sector. He added that it is important to
establish a designated institution to mitigate
this phenomenon. Al-Shaya noted that SAB
is in the process of signing a cooperation
agreement with the Kuwait Anti-Corruption
Authority to enhance the principles of integrity,
transparency, and cooperation with the state
institutions and protect the public funds.
SAB President added that corruption wastes
fortunes and capacities. It is the primary factor
in draining resources, and it is considered
the main obstacle for the required progress
and improvement for the advancement of
all nations. He emphasized that the facets
of corruption weaken the revenues, repel
investments, and lower the service efficiency.
Corruption, he added, overrules any
developmental efforts towards reformation;
therefore, the GCC countries are tracing the
footsteps of the international community in
enhancing their efforts towards combating and
