SAB Participates in
the 62nd Meeting
of ARABOSAI
Executive Council
in Doha
A high-level SAB delegation, headed by SAB
President Mr. Faisal Al-Shaya, participated in
the 62nd Meeting of the ARABOSAI Executive
Council held in Qatar during the period from
5-6 July 2021. This meeting is the first of its kind
to be held in person under these challenging
circumstances, since all previous ARABOSAI
meetings were held virtually due to the
Coronavirus pandemic.
Mr. Al-Shaya was accompanied by the
Director of Training and International Relations
Department, Dr. Saud Al-Zamanan, and the
Controller of International Relations, Mrs. Heba
Al-Awadhi, as well as the Chief Auditor of the
Defense, Security, and Public Affairs Audit
Department, Mr. Abdullah Al-Shetan.
During the meeting, SAB chaired the WG on
SDGs audit, which aims to demonstrate the role
of SAIs in this field. SAB delegation presented
the fifth report (virtually) regarding SDGs and
WG conclusions during the last period and the
operational plan for 2020 and 2021 and their
results.
Moreover, SAB proposed to organize a training
program on “Government accountability
based on maturity and international standards
(IPSAS)”. In addition, the General Secretariat
announced that Ms. Nada Al-Jalal, Associate
Auditor at SAB, won a prize for the best article
published in the ARABOSAI journal, which was
titled “Internal audit and the Coronavirus”.
The meeting also witnessed the signing of
a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU)
between ARABOSAI and the United Nations
Economic and Social Commission for West Asia
(ESCWA), which is considered one of the five
regional commissions of the UN. This MoU aims
to stimulate economic activities and cooperation
within ARABOSAI members and enhance
development through analyzing current trends
in the domains of economy, sociology, and
environment using the guidance of the United
Nation’s global plans.
In addition, the meeting discussed the report
of the Executive Council Chair regarding the
Council’s activities since the last meeting as
well as the General Secretariat’s report and
other reports of ARABOSAI committees. Such
as the capacity development committee-
which is specialized in training human
resources in the Arab world, the professional
and audit standards committee, the SDGs
audit committee, the strategic planning
committee, and the ARABOSAI strategic plan
follow-up committee.
Moreover, the meeting reviewed the
development initiatives proposed by the Chair
of the Executive Council, considered the
