SAB Participates in
the 20th INTOSAI WGEA
Assembly Meeting
In the spirit of exchanging expertise and
improving cooperation with Supreme Audit
Institutions through International Organizations,
the State Audit Bureau of Kuwait (SAB) has
participated in the 20th INTOSAI WGEA
Assembly Meeting on 19-21 January 2021.
The delegation representing SAB consisted
of Senior Auditor at the Performance Audit
Department, Talal Al-Wuhaib, Associate
Auditor at the Performance Audit Department,
Fajer Al-Otaibi, and Associate Auditor
at the Performance Audit Department,
Farah Al-Farhan.
The assembly aimed to exchange experiences
between the participating countries in
environmental audit, recognize the latest
development, and follow up with the operations
of the working group in the implementation of its
work plan for 2019-2022.
SAB delegation has also participated as a
member of the Work Package 5, on the theme
On 19-21 January 2021,
“Policy Coherence and Integration for SDGs
Targets Audit Methodology.”
The meeting introduced the concept of Circular
Economy, which addresses principles such
as waste and pollutants disposal, preserving
products and usable items, and renewing and
constructing the ecosystem. It also tackles three
main modes, namely: plastic “its impact on the
environment of production and consumption,”
textile, and nutrition.
The meeting has also discussed Circular
Economy within the European Union
governments and Sitra (the Finnish Innovation
Fund). The event also witnessed a panel
discussion on Circular Economy, a practical
session on Circular Economy, and sessions on
Sustainable Transports (WP4), Plastic Waste
(WP2), and Climate Finance (WP3).
Further, the sessions included a seminar on the
Sustainable Development Goals and the Global
SDG Report (GSDR2019) and Systematic
Thinking, the Covid-19 and the Linkages to the
Environment, Experience Sharing and Capacity
Building (WP6), Policy Coherence in the Context
of SDGs (WP5), Effective Communication
and Stakeholders Relations (WP7), and an
interactive session on the WGEA Past and
Future (WP1).
Towards the end of the event, candidates were
thanked for their participation and interaction
with the Group’s activities and the conference’s
success. The winner of the INTOSAI WGEA
Award for best visualization was announced for
the first time. This prize is the latest initiative in
promoting objective and innovative ideas within
the field of Environmental Audit. The SAIs of
Indonesia and Slovenia won first place for their
topic “Inspiration in Environmental Auditing.”
The best visualization award shall be presented
during the Assembly every two years.
